Careers at Motion Metrics International Corp
At Motion Metrics, our mission is to address the mining industry’s toughest safety and efficiency related problems by challenging the status quo. To achieve this goal, we are always on the lookout for top talent. Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, we are a Canadian-controlled private company with over 15 years of experience. While our headquarters are located in a 12,000 square foot facility on the campus of the University of British Columbia, we also have offices in Chile (Las Condes, Santiago) and in Southern Africa. With 55+ employees around the world, our teams integrate their passion for technology and innovation into their day to day work. Effective teamwork and communication are encouraged in our company.
We offer a challenging and positive work environment with competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits, including extended health care and covered professional training. We have recently established an “Employee Growth Participation Plan” (EGPP) for all full-time employees at Motion Metrics. We are always looking for motivated individuals to be part of our professional team of engineers and skilled workers.
Hiring Fresh Graduates
As innovation is at the core of our business, we have hired many fresh graduates from different departments at universities and colleges across Canada and around the world. These include Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, Mining, Engineering Physics, and Commerce.
We only hire the best graduates; those with passion, personal drive and expert knowledge, who challenge the status quo to deliver exceptional results. We ask each applicant to submit both their resume as well as transcripts. While grades are important, they are only one of the indicators that we consider. If you feel you have special strengths or skills to offer us, we are interested to hear from you. For example, we have learned that our best software developers or hardware engineers are those who do so not only for their paid job but also as a hobby in their spare time!
These new hires have the opportunity to be mentored and trained by our seasoned managers who specialize in cutting-edge software development and electrical/mechanical hardware design.
Each semester, Motion Metrics selects a handful of co-op students to undertake challenging yet well-defined projects to nurture from start to finish. At the end of their contract, the students present their accomplishments to the company and go head to head to win an honorable grand prize voted on by presentation attendees. Co-op students and interns receive mentoring from our Motion Metrics project supervisors, allowing them to gain valuable industry insights and hands-on experience. Indeed, many of our long-term employees today are former co-op students.
