December 2007 - A large copper mine in Chile has chosen Motion Metrics's combined ToothMetricsTM + ViewMetricsTM system
Motion Metrics proudly announces that Motion Metrics has been awarded a lease-to-owe agreement to supply five ToothMetricsTM + ViewMetricsTM systems to one of the world's largest copper mines in Chile. The deal was managed by Tecno Tip Top Chile S.A., Motion Metrics's commercial agent in Chile.
The decision came after a team of managers and engineers from this mine visited another Motion Metrics Chilean customer mine with ToothMetricsTM + ViewMetricsTM systems equipped on its entire production P&H shovel fleet. The team evaluated the working systems in action and became impressed with the proven performance, reliability, ease of maintenance, as well as customer satisfaction of the Motion Metrics systems.

August 2007 - Installation of 6 LoadMetrics Systems in South Africa
Motion Metrics installation team visited a large platinum mine in South Africa on two separate trips and installed a total of 6 LoadMetrics systems. These systems were installed on Terex O&K RH200 and RH340 hydraulic shovels. Upon the request of the mine, Motion Metrics is now working closely with the mine dispatch provider in order to connect the payload and arm geometry data to the mine dispatch room. The mine initially placed a purchase order for 3 systems and after being satisfied with the results, they placed another purchase order for 3 more systems.
July 2007 - Successful Completion of RigMetrics project
Motion Metrics successfully completes a one-year collaborative project for the design, development, and field testing of an advanced machine vision based automation system for mobile oil service rigs industry. This digital monitoring and control project marks Motion Metrics's entrance into the oil industry and is a natural extension of the company's core competency in the design and development of rugged embedded monitoring products for the open pit mining industry. Two sets of successful field trials were performed on a mobile oil rig in Alberta. In the final field trials many tripping actions were performed using a robotic manipulator controlled by Motion Metrics's torso-mounted stereo camera system. RigMetrics is a new product that will be offered by Motion Metrics for the oil and other heavy-duty industries, based on the results of this project. Stay tuned for further details on this exciting new development at Motion Metrics.
July 2007 - Repeat order of Motion Metrics systems for an Indonesian gold mine
Motion Metrics had completed the shipment of 2 ToothMetrics + ViewMetrics systems to a large gold mine located in Indonesia, for installation on P&H cable shovels. This is a repeat order after this new customer installed the system on its first shovel in 2006. The technical crew at this mine later requested Motion Metrics to design a double camera and double monitor surveillance system for haul trucks to augment their side mirrors. Our new VMHT (ViewMetrics for Haul Trucks) product is the result of this suggestion. It is now available commercially at a very affordable price.

March 2007 - Installation of Motion Metrics Systems in an Australian nickel mine
Motion Metrics commissioned two ToothMetrics + FragMetrics systems on Liebherr 996 hydraulic shovels at a nickel mine in Western Australia. The provided systems also included the ReportLog data visualization and analysis software for FragMetrics log data.
November 2006 - Complete Suite of Motion Metrics Machine-Vision Systems commissioned
Motion Metrics completed the commissioning of 4 Motion Metrics Machine-Vision Systems (ToothMetrics + ViewMetrics + FragMetrics) at a copper mine in Chile. The mine is located at high altitude (at approximately 4,000 meters above sea level), therefore these units have been customized for reliable operation in the high-altitude condition of the mine.
August 2006 - LoadMetrics-AGS fully commissioned at an Australian gold mine
Motion Metrics completed the commissioning of 4 LoadMetrics-AGS systems in a large gold mine located near Kalgoorlie, in Western Australia. In particular, for this mine the Arm Geometry Sensing feature of the product was used. This order was managed by Wenco International Mining Systems in Richmond, BC, Canada. The installed systems were connected to Wenco's BenchManager product onboard the shovels via RS232 in order to share the arm geometry and bucket coordinates with the radio dispatch system. In combination with the GSP data provided by the Wenco system on whereabouts of the shovel cab, the combined system provided the mine with accurate digging location within 10 cm accuracy. Such information is particularly useful for precious metal mining operations.
June 2006 - Motion Metrics wins the Anthony T. Eyton Award for International Impact
Motion Metrics is the winner of the "Anthony T. Eyton Award for International Impact" from Precarn to recognize the international success of Motion Metrics, and the safety enhancement that its innovative solutions bring to open-pit mines around the world.
March 2006 - Motion Metrics has completed shipment of 4 Motion Metrics systems to a Chilean copper mine
Motion Metrics has completed shipment of four ToothMetrics+ViewMetrics systems to a Chilean copper mine. The systems are scheduled to be installed on the mine's P&H shovel fleet in mid-2006.
December 2005 - ToothMetrics chosen for one of the largest copper mines
Motion Metrics is pleased to announce that the company has received a purchase order for 10 ToothMetrics+ViewMetrics systems to be deployed on P&H cable shovels at one of the largest copper mines in the world located in Arizona, US. This comes after successful field results on the pilot installations with the collaboration of the mining company's Mine Technology Group.
August 2005 - A large group of copper mines in Arizona, US has chosen Motion Metrics products
Motion Metrics receives multiple purchase orders from a large group of copper mines in Arizona, United States for the combined ToothMetrics+ViewMetrics systems to be installed on various types of rope shovels. These systems are scheduled to be commissioned by October 2005.
June 2005 - Motion Metrics system providing precise bucket positioning for an Australian gold mine
Motion Metrics receives purchase order for four LoadMetrics-AGS units to be installed on large hydraulic shovels at a gold mine in Australia, following a successful 3-month on-site trial. The system is a vital component of the Wenco BenchManager system which provides feedback of the exact digging location of the shovel to the mine planners in real time.
April 2005 - Recap of a busy month for the Motion Metrics installation team
The Motion Metrics installation team has had a busy month in April 2005, traveling to 3 open-pit mines for installation and commissioning of the ToothMetrics systems. Motion Metrics completes installations of ToothMetrics systems at two iron-ore mines in Labrador and Quebec in Northern Canada, and a copper mine in South America. This required modifying our brochures, user manuals, and training presentations to both French and Spanish, adding to our existing repertoire of English, Russian, and Setswana language support.
March 2005 - To Mine or De-Mine?
To Mine or De-Mine? Motion Metrics is awarded a contract with Defense Research and Development Canada (DRDC) for an exciting new project to equip an excavator for automatic detection and removal of anti-personnel landmines. The project will draw on Motion Metrics expertise in robotics, control, sensors, and embedded computing, as well as our experience with heavy machinery to create an affordable, transportable, efficient, and above all, safe, method for removing the dangers posed by unexploded land mines worldwide.
February 2005 - ToothMetrics commissioned and immediately proven in an Africa diamond mine
Motion Metrics field engineer visited a diamond mine in Southern Africa and install a combined ToothMetrics+ViewMetrics system on a Terex RH200 hydraulic shovel. The system was fully installed on February 3, 2005.
After the shovel resumed production that evening, it lost the tip of a tooth. The newly installed ToothMetrics system immediately detected the missing tooth and triggered an audio alarm to alert the operator. The operator reported to dispatch to instruct the truck to dump the tooth into waste, successfully preventing the tooth from reaching the crusher.
The next morning, the mine sent some people to search through the dumped load and recovered the lost tooth, confirming ToothMetrics as an effective measure for protecting the crusher against broken teeth and adaptors.
