Motion Metrics Awarded Patent for Proximity Detection

On May 12th 2015, Motion Metrics received United States patent #9,030,332 – Method and apparatus for generating an indication of an object within an operating ambit of heavy loading equipment.

This patent was co-invented by Dr. Shahram Tafazoli Bilandi, Mr. Nima Nabavi, Mr. Ian Law Bell and Mr. Arya Ohadi Esfahani.

This patent covers an important invention by Motion Metrics – Proximity Detection. Proximity Detection avoids dangerous collisions and accidents through the use of radar sensors placed around the shovel. When triggered in the warning zone – external lights flash slowly, the in-cab monitor lights up orange and a short, audible alarm sounds. When equipment enters the collision zone, warnings intensify – external lights flash faster, the in-cab monitor lights up in red and a longer, faster audible alarm sounds.

This patent is critical to securing and advancing Motion Metrics technology.
