Ongoing training for the evolving era
Historically, miners gained technical training in a university classroom or through a period of professional mentoring. But in the complex and evolving world of technology, traditional methods alone aren’t enough. It used to be that what you learned was valuable for a lifetime, but now, knowledge and skills can become obsolete within a few years. This makes the need to learn rapidly and regularly more important than ever and challenges mines and quarries to rethink how learning and development happen from a one time activity to a more continuous, ongoing campaign.
Train at our headquarters
We invite field specialists to train at Motion Metrics headquarters in beautiful Vancouver, Canada. In our workshops, we talk about how you can make use of our products to boost productivity and lessen the risk of incidents at your mine or quarry site. We’ve developed a range of novel solutions, namely ShovelMetrics™, LoaderMetrics™, and PortaMetrics™, and to ensure our solutions perform well, we welcome field specialists to learn the essentials required to set up and maintain the systems.
Get the basics
Our core training course is an intensive, three-day, hands-on workshop that gives you all the tools to be a Motion Metrics Product Specialist. This course provides participants with no prior experience a broad introduction to system usage, hardware components, and operating systems. You will also learn how to access vital equipment info remotely using MetricsManager™—our central data portal. After completion, you are able to make good use of the systems, oversee activities, and plan installations with the best practices in mind.
Become a master
We also offer advanced level, five-day, training on our hardware, system setup, and troubleshooting that will enable you to handle every installation. This extended course is intended for seasoned professionals dedicated to maintaining our systems. Here, we cover various components of a Motion Metrics system; networking, physical, and virtual processes associated with the different technologies. We go through all measures required to install, configure, and commission ShovelMetrics™ and LoaderMetrics™ systems. Finally, you will develop an analytic mindset that will help you make critical decisions based on the real-world circumstances in the field.
Sign up for in-person classes
Our training program runs twice-yearly, once in January and once in July. There are four modules, each with a technical assessment in the end. Also, participants are graded on technical skills and problem-solving competency. Upon completion, you will earn official recognition for your work, and can share your success with colleagues and employers.
